Above is the (Google) map showing the little green patch which is the area we cover, but is being marked as Newlands Reserve.

On the right is the aerial photo, zoomed in a little bit.  The "A" marker is in the same position on both the aerial photo and the map.  There's no public reserve area on the right of this marker.

It looks small, but there's a lot of work, not helped by the backyards sloping into the reserve, bringing down seeds of weeds and exotic plants.  There are now quite a bit of "Backyard Bushcare" starting to happen around the reserve, helping us to gain an upper hand

2012 drive for new members

There are about 400 residents around the Harry Howard Reserve; these have been our target.  In the past, our new member drive comprised letterbox drops and posters put up a week before our monthly meeting.  The success rate was between 1 to 3 new volunteers for each campaign.  This time, what could we do to improve our success rate?

We need more members

This is the first for this Blog. As we have more than 8 in our group, I will invite all members of our Bushcare Group, our Co-ordinator in North Sydney Council and selected NSC staff members, to join as contributor-follower.  What we want to share among the group are all about the flora and fauna in our reserve, our members, our work and results.  I will post some photos soon.

We haven't got any new members for a while, so I will begin with appealing for more new members!
